Your Septic Tank and Drainfield

The waste from your toilets and sinks flows into a main sewer line that slopes downward toward the septic tank. The result is a liquid wastewater called effluent that contains very little organic material. This wastewater enters a drain field where microorganisms decompose it in the soil.
